Another day of fishing in Cabo San Lucas brings another 79 marlin releases and the second swordfish release for the international field of anglers. Some nice game fish were weighed including an impressive tournament record. A 226-pound yellowfin tuna was caught by Flavio Campos Reis from the Brazilian team representing the Torneo De Marlin Azul. It takes a very skilled and fit angler to best a tuna using 30-pound IGFA class line loaded on a spinning reel. Read More

Fifty Nine teams headed for the fabled Cabo San Lucas marlin grounds hoping to have a successful first day of fishing in the 2011 IGFA Offshore World Championship.
The marina was buzzing with teams stepping aboard the boats at IGY Marina Cabo San Lucas. Anticipation was high as the marlin bite has been steady the past two weeks with many teams pre-fishing before the tournament. Read More

The Championship kicks off today with the angler registration check in. A final count of 59 teams from 25 Countries was welcomed by the tournament Committee lead by the staff of Marlin, Sport Fishing and Salt Water Sportsman magazines. Anglers received welcome angler’s duffle bags, tournament shirts from Hook & Tackle & Guy Harvey, Williamson lures, VMC hooks, Tournament hats, Eagle Claw Hooks, Reef Safe Sunscreen and beer from Baja Brewing Company.
